Biomechanical Assessment

Assessment and evaluation of gait and function.
Pre-pointe assessments, Children's podiatry, risk minimising strategies and more!

What's Involved?

A biomechanical assessment helps you gain an understanding of how your lower body moves and functions.

These assessments are important for injury management, treatment for acute and chronic pain, and pre-screenings for sports and dance to establish a baseline for ability, track improvement and understand risk factors for injury.

A biomechanical assessment commonly includes:

  • Visual, slow motion video and pressure plate gait analysis.

  • Joint range and quality of motion assessments, including hypermobility investigation.

  • Functional movement testing, including dance-specific and sport-specific components where appropriate.

  • Strength and balance testing.

  • Limb length discrepancy testing.

  • Footwear assessment

What should you bring?

  • You should bring or wear appropriate clothes for exercise. This clothing should be form-fitting on lower legs, or should easily expose the knees and below.

  • You should bring your commonly worn footwear. Eg. Daily shoes, work shoes, sport shoes.

  • You should bring any scans of recent injuries if relevant to any concerns you have.
